Custodial shed solves storage issues

Though the construction of the new shed behind the school began in early June of 2015, Xavier Administration has been planning this addition for nearly a decade. Tom Wille, Head of Building and Grounds, is in charge of the project. Wille and Controller Shea Francis discussed how there has been a demand for more storage in recent years.

“Administration recognized a while ago that we needed more room for storage, so for the past ten years we have been planning and saving for the addition,” Francis said.

The shed’s numerous purposes will include: housing all the tables and chairs currently on the balcony, storing the supplies presently kept in the south stairwell, and acting as a storehouse for the drama equipment. Wille expects the project to be completed as soon as November.

Funding for this project has been taking place for around ten years. Francis has been in charge of saving money every year in order to raise adequate funds for the building of the shed. The remaining balance will be taken out of the annual budget. Administration hopes the shed will help clean out hallways and give the Theatre Department more room for all of their props and sets.

“The Theatre Department has so many big set pieces, so we are incredibly grateful and lucky to have somewhere to put them,” Drama Director Ms. Sarah Hayes said.
