Dancers raise $150,000
February 4, 2019
Memories of well-rehearsed performances, socializing and a savory meal fill the air with the aroma of excitement, reminding the Xavier community of Dancing with the Saints.
On January 19, it was once again time for Xavier’s annual fundraiser located at the DoubleTree Hotel & Convention Center in downtown Cedar Rapids.
The live event culminated season four festivities, amounting in approximately $150,000 via online donations, fundraising and sponsorships.
This year’s proceeds will be used to refine the school’s tuition assistance program in addition to Xavier faculty and staff compensations.
Rich Murphy and Erica Ireland were named the People’s Choice Champions, while Patty Wright and Shawn Nelson secured the title of Judges’ Choice Champions.
“While the dancers are always pretty nervous, the crowds just love the evening,” Xavier Principal Ms. Angela Olson said. “Nowhere else does the Xavier community have the chance to get together for a fun night to socialize and get dressed up. It deepens an already strong and vibrant community, and with every dance that comes on stage, each dancer brings a story that is heartwarming.”
Olson also mentioned that the evening would not be made possible without the incredible support of volunteers who serve the school not only by raising funds each year, but by taking the time to raise up the incredible community.
Season five’s live event for Dancing with the Saints will be held on January 18, 2020.
